Ronne, with its 14053 (2006), “capital” on Bornholm – Denmark’s outpost in the Baltic Sea.
Idyllic half-timbered houses alternate with modern town-like, and among the sights we find Sct. Nicolai Church (the oldest part of the 1100s) and Bornholm Museum. Ronne is otherwise a natural starting point for further exploration of the island, either by car or by bike. Small picturesque fishing towns Svaneke, Bornholm and Nexø is certainly worth a visit. It is also the place typical round churches in Østerlars, Nylars, Olsker and Nyker. Bornholm’s historic main attraction is probably still the imposing fortress ruins Hammershus.
Nature is far more varied than in Denmark itself, the high cliffs to the north and the kilometer-long sandy beach, or at Dueodde to the south extremes.
