Fortaleza is the state capital of Ceará is located in northeast Brazil the Atlantic Ocean. With a population of 2,315,116 (2009) inhabitants Fortaleza is the fifth largest city in Brazil.
Fortaleza is one of the top three cities in the Northeast region together with Recife and Salvador.The city will be one of the host cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Fortaleza has a typical tropical climate with high temperatures and relatively high humidity throughout the year.
The city is located on the beach and has km after km of beaches. Iracema is the bohemian beach, with bars and nightclubs. Croco beach is a popular beach resort with deck chairs, massage and restaurants and a good nightlife. Praia do Futuro is one of the favorite beaches for swimming and surfing. Along the waterfront in the center there are many hotels with good standard.
A special attraction of the city is the huge Pirata Bar open only once a week. Mucuripe area is known for its fishing activity and fish market, and also several boat trips are based here.
Beach Park complex is the largest water park in South America and is located in Porto das Dunas 16 km from Fortaleza. It has, among other slides that can get it to tickle the belly of anyone and everyone.
