Harstad/Narvik Evenes Airport(EVE) is located between the towns of Harstad and Narvik, and is located more specifically in Evenes municipality in Nordland. The name “Evenes” is still used locally when people refer to the airport. There are good bus connections from the airport to Harstad and to Narvik. The terminal is located just off European Route 10, with good road connection to most of the region.

On this island you will find many beautiful places and vantage points whether you want to hunt the Northern Lights in winter, or enjoy the midnight sun in summer. Apparently there are also trolls on Senja, and if you are lucky you meet on one of the nice varieties.

Polar Park is not too far from Bjerkvik, the village you take off from if you drive in the direction of Tromsø and Senja, among others. The detour to the park is really worth your time if you want to see the largest animals in Norwegian fauna. Here you get close to brown bear, wolf, lynx, wolverine, arctic fox, elk, deer, reindeer and musk ox. The park shows the animals in their right element, where the animals have plenty of space and are well looked after. It is recommended to visit the park at the times the animals you want to see should be fed, which especially applies to the shy wolves, wolverines and gaupes.

Røkenes Gård – Unique estate with restaurant, café and art gallery
Røkenes Gård is located 6 km outside Harstad city centre. The site has been resident for about 1500 years,while the current main building dates to the 1750s. Previously, this was a trading post and farm. Today there is a gourmet restaurant in the beautiful main house, while in the old barn there is a simpler restaurant and café, art gallery, meeting facilities and craft exhibition. The area around the farm is lovely to stroll in, and you will find a demanding 9-hole golf course adjacent to the farm. Please note that most of the year Røkenes Gård is usually only open on Sundays outside of bookings, while in summer it is open daily. Here you get what is perhaps Norway’s best waffles,with sour cream and homemade jam.

Narvikfjellet – As beautiful in winter as in summer
In Narvik is one of the best ski resorts in the world,if beautiful surroundings are to take into account. Narvik mountain plunges directly down towards the sea and the center of the small town. Skiing here in winter is a unique experience. At the top you buckle your skis or snowboard at about 1000 meters altitude, and a few minutes later you are down in the center of Narvik, and almost at sea level. The resort has about 20 kilometers of groomed trails, and five ski lifts. If you are in the area in summer you should also consider heading up the mountain. The café at the top is open every day, you can get up by the gondola, and you will get a view of the fjord and the mountains that are unbeatable.

Parking and traffic with car hire
