Iceland is Europe’s second largest island and a republic in the North Atlantic Ocean, between Norway   and Greenland.Despite its area of 103,000 km2, did not land more than around 307,000 inhabitants (2010).About 120 000 of them live in the capital Reykjavik .Other areas are Kópavogur,   Hafnafjordur and Akureyri.

Vatnajökull glacier is the second largest glacier in Europe. Just Austfonna on Svalbard is greater. It has an area of over 8,000 km2.

One of the biggest tourist attractions in Iceland’s Vatnajokull National Park. Another popular attraction is the water spouting hot spring Geysir, located in Haukadalur (where there is also a national park). Also, the Vikings old stuff somewhere Thingvellir mentioned – which is on UNESCO’s list of world heritage.

Iceland’s main airport is Keflavik International Airport – located about 50 miles southwest of the capital.
