Isla Canela is a peninsula located in the extreme southwest of Spain, on the Atlantic.The area is situated on the river Guadina, which separates Spain from neighbouring Portugal. The peninsula is located in Huelva Province, and belongs to the region of Andalucia.
Isla Canela is a quiet and exclusive holiday destination, which has only 300 inhabitants. The 7 km long sandy beach is the main attraction of the tourists come here first and foremost to enjoy the sun, swimming and beach. There are also excellent opportunities for water sports here.
On Isla Canela is also a nice marina with shopping and restaurants. There is also a golf course on the peninsula.
6 km north of Isla Canela is the small town of Ayamonte, which has 20,000 inhabitants (2011). The town has a distinctly nautical atmosphere. In Ayamonte can see the church “Iglesia de las Angustias Parroquial” from the 1500s, and in the area between the town and neighbourhood Punta del Moral’s tower “Torre de Isla Canela” from the Middle Ages – which also recommended a visit.
