Järvenpää located in Helsinki region 38 km north of the capital. The city has a population of 39 457 (2012) inhabitants and is situated on Lake Tuusulanjärvi.

Järvenpää is an important commercial and industrial city specializing in high technology metals. The city is home to a number of internationally successful companies that Metso Paper and Rocla. It has very good rail connections. There is also a green city with nice parks and offers excellent opportunities for recreation and leisure activities.

Järvenpää is known for being home to Finland’s most famous composer, Jean Sibelius (he was temporarily born in Hämeenlinna in 1865). It is located two kilometers south of the city, and the house where Sibelius lived from 1904 until his death in 1957 has now turned into a museum.

The city has a very rich cultural life. Järvenpää Hall is one of the most popular concert venues in the Helsinki region and an important conference. The annual Sibelius Festival, a series of concerts from October to December, has gained international recognition. Another annual event is The Lakeside Blues Festival which gathers blues lovers from all over Europe a week during the summer, and it’s blue event in Europe.
