The Spanish island of Menorca in the Mediterranean, and belongs to the Balearic Islands. Menorca has 92,000 inhabitants (2011), is located northeast of the larger neighboring island Majorca.

Menorca has mostly a rocky landscape with a 200 km long coastline. There are about 70 beaches on the island. The highest point is Monte Toro, which is located 358 m Menorca was declared a biosphere reserve in 1993 by UNESCO.

The island has many megalithic monuments from former Celtic population.

The main town of Menorca Mahon states, and is the island’s administrative center and largest city – with approx. 30,000 inhabitants. Mahon is located on the southwest coast, the port is a ferry connection to such  Majorca.Tourism is the main source of revenue for the city, and there are a number of tourist attractions (including a historical museum) in addition to the beaches, a varied nightlife and shopping opportunities.

Some of the most popular seaside resorts / tourist areas of Menorca’s Mau, Es Castell, Sant Lluis, Alaior, Ferrerias and Ciutadella.

The island’s international airport – Menorca Airport – is situated 5 km southwest of the main city of Mahon.
