Montevideo Carrasco International Airport (MVD) in the south of Uruguay – about 21 miles northeast of downtown Montevideo.
The airport is the largest in Uruaguay, serving 1.9 passengers per year (2011).
Montevideo Airport was opened in 1947 and has one terminal building (new in 2009).
About 15 airlines have direct flights from the airport in Montevideo to a variety of destinations at home and abroad – including Miami, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Luxembourg, Tokyo and Zurich.
There are a number of public facilities at the airport – including shops (including duty-free shop), restaurant, snack bar, currency exchange, tourist information, travel agency, meeting room, first aid station and wireless internet access.
