Reno is located at the foot of the famous mountain range of the Sierra Nevada in the U.S. state of Nevada, and has about 225,000 inhabitants (2011).

Reno began his development towards an urban village in the middle of the 1800s, including because of the discovery of gold in the nearby mountains. This created a gold rush, which, however, did not last as long – but long enough for the settlement was relatively large. Some years later it was found that silver, and mining operations were established – something that proved to be far more lucrative.

Otherwise Reno primarily known as “The Biggest Little Town in the World” – and is famous for its many casinos. Reno competing there with another city in Nevada, namely the even more famous Las Vegas.
