San Antonio is located in southern United States , and is the second largest city in the state of Texas.The city is located at the San Antonio River – about 300 miles west of Houston. The city offers a number of preserved historic buildings – including the Spanish Governor’s Palace from 1749 and San Antonio’s Cathedral from 1731.

A major tourist attraction in San Antonio’s Alamo – a national historic monument where the “Battle of the Alamo” occurred in 1836. The building here was originally a mission station from the 1700s, and today houses a museum.

Other attractions in the city include “Sea World of Texas” – where you can experience the dolphin show, San Antonio Museum of Art – with exhibitions of Latin American folk art and the beautiful promenade “Paseo del Rio” along the river in downtown. It is also popular bars, restaurants and shops – and the area are sometimes simply called the “River Walk”.

The city is otherwise a transportation museum, a botanical garden, zoological park, a Japanese garden and water park “Splash Town” – with both wave pool and water slides.

San Antonio International Airport is located 13 miles north of downtown.
