The port city of Yanbu (Yanbu ‘al Bahr, Yambo, Yenbo) is located on the west coast of Saudi Arabia the Red Sea.The city has 233,000 inhabitants (2010), and is located in the province of Medina.
Yanbu is located on 170 km west of the city of Medinah, and 300 miles north of the city of Jeddah.
The city’s economy was formerly based on being transittby for pilgimer bound for Mecca or Medinah and export of dates. Yanbu has today’s Red Sea’s largest port, and the city has become a center for the petrochemical industry.
Yanbu actually consists of three villages (neighborhood) – located approx. 15 min. in time from each other. In the historic center, which is often called “Al-Balad”, you will find shops, shopping centers, restaurants and homes.Many Asians living in Yanbu, and restaurants here often serves Asian cuisine.
